ROOSEVELT AND U DISTRICT TRAIN STATIONS, SEATTLE
Roosevelt and U District Stations opened in 2021 as part of Sound Transit’s massive expansion program for the Puget Sound area connecting Seattle, Tacoma, and Bellevue. With voter approval in 1996, 2008 and 2016, Sound Transit is building the most ambitious transit expansion in the country, with new service opening every few years. Apogee’s custom Platform Lighting System facilitates building welcoming stations with public art and sustainable design, so they become attractive destinations for people to live, work, shop and easily connect. The system provided functional and aesthetically pleasing elements to the station, helping to streamline lighting, audio/video, fire/safety equipment and many other services. This is the end result – architectural mass transit, made in the USA.
